Baptism date is set!
so just to let you all know, this week has been the best week of my mission.
we had an appointment with the yorks. me and elder kicker decided to go in there and set a date for baptism.....may 26. we had originally decided to bring that up at the end of the lesson, BUT.........right before we started the lesson, tracie york said, " i think i am ready to set a dat now.....and i was thinking the 12th of may!?" we were so excited.
so we have a baptism this saturday. we talked to bro york and he mentioned that he probably isnt ready to baptize her, but he didn't want that to stop her from getting baptized. we talked to him about baptizing mariah, their 8 yr old daughter, when she is ready. he wanted to know what office of the priesthood he was in, so on sunday we told him we could find out and schedule and interview with the bishop for him.
sunday came along, and the bishop was gone so he had an interview with the first couselor.....the interview was an hour long. he came out and said it looks like he might be able to baptize tracie. we were so excited for him. he has an interview with the bishop on wednesday.
we then went to elder's quorum. once that was over, bro young, the elders quorum president, asked bro york to give the prayer. me and elder kicker were a little nervous, because bro york doesnt even dare to have family prayer. he says he is very shy about praying. he told bro young, "Im kinda shy." then bro young replied, "OK.....then will you close with the prayer?" after a little bit a silence, bro young bowed his head and said, "we'll wait." then bro york stood up and prayed! we had never heard him pray before. it was sooo cool.
this week, heather, one of our recent converts, had her house broken into. the person who robbed her had been in before because all they took was the xbox360 and the games. the games were in a different place and they left her digital camera, TONS of movies, and her playstation two. she is also stuggling with smoking. yesterday, we went to her home and gave her a blessing, then under the direction of the stake president, we left a blessing over her home...casting satan and all of his influence out. it was really nice.
we also picked up two new investigators this week. we thought one was just crazy and wasnt really listening, but she actually CALLED and CANCELLED her appt with us becuase of an emergency. this was the first time i have seen an investigator call and cancel before. the other investigator called Head Quarters for a free BoM. she knows some people in our ward. the peole she knows are going to come with us to teach her. we really had a good fun week! alot happend.....PLUS i get to call home on SUNDAY.
ILOVEYOUALL thanks
