Smoke free by the 25th
so, this week was pretty cool. yesterday we got to meet elder christensen form the seventy. once a yaer, a general authority tours the mission and gives us a little training thing. it was way cool. he is a real nice and inspired man. on sunday we have stake conference and elder anderson(seventy) and elder rasband(area authority) will be there. so thats all exciting.
so, on saturday we met with steve. he is doing awesome. coming along real nicely. on sunday at church, i was going to sit down with him and sister inmon and talk about the smoking....president summerhays wants all baptismal candindates to be finished sm0king by they interview so they can honestly answer the question "are you LIVING the word of wisdom" not "will you live the word of wisdom when you are baptized".
i got to church and steve didnt show up. i talked with sister inmon and she said that his leg was all swollen and stuff, so he couldnt make it. i told her and everything and she said that she doesnt think he is gonna make it on the smoking by they 25th(baptismal interview date). i talked with her and she didnt want to be negative, but she was just being honest. i guess he told her that he might not give upt the smoking.....
after church we went and visited with him. we talked to him, in an encouraging way, and talked about being smoke free by the 25th. he took a deep breath andsaid that he'll do it. no matter waht it takes. it was soo cool. it is gonna be rough for him, but he is willing to do it.
after we talked we gave him a blessing and he is being real positive about the whole situation. after the chat with him, i called sister inmon and told her what had happened. she was excited and was willing to help....she got all emotional on the phone saying that she is all excited and she told me that she knew that steve had an instant bond with me, for some reason or another, and she said that i was an awesome missionary. she mad eme feel so good. she said that when i teach, it as if i "command the room". she is a way nice lady.
so mom, thank yo sooo much for writing julie. she LOOOOOVED the card. she got it yesterday and read it to me. we helped the perry's paint their fence this week. that was fun. all is well here. ill talk to you later....LOVES
